Last weekend my friend and I went to Camp Palo Verde to visit the Out of Africa Zoo. Camp Palo Verde basically has 2 things, the zoo and a casino. We visited both. This zoo is pretty impressive when you consider it is entirely funded by visitors, no government funding. A male giraffe costs $45K, while a female is $100K, so just males here. They had some beautiful 10 month old white wolves, lions that you could get pretty close to. I have a few shots through fences which I try to avoid but wanted the tiger and wolf. It is in a beautiful setting and the animals seemed to be quite content for the most part. There was hardly anybody there, with the exception of 41 well behaved boy scouts.

Welcome!

The view for the animals

Our ride, shared with 41 boy scouts.

First stop, feed the giraffes, everyone gets a carrot.

They have done this gig before…stuck their heads right in the bus.

Next stop, lions, we did not feed them carrots.

Sunning themselves on a beautiful day.

I’m ready for my close up, and my camel cookie please.

White wolf

Black wolf.

This reptile, don’t recall what it is, but smells with its tongue, seriously. And loves to be around humans.

About artblablablablog
I use everything to create art. I can't help myself. Someday, I hope something will come of all this but if not, I've had a lovely time and would not trade one second. I have a store on zazzle at www.meltedbutterflyarts.com and that does surprisingly well. I am loving the intelligent exchange on wordpress and I am so grateful to be connected with so many incredibly talented artist bloggers!
Beautiful so beautiful photographs you captured dear Christina, especially these LITTLE CATS fascinated me. Thank you, I am going to kiss my BIG CAT now
instead of them. Love, nia
Thanks nia, the cats were very pretty and CLOSE!
Oh my Lord, TS!!! Stunning photos! The lion and lioness actually gave me shivers…..so incredibly beautiful together. Love that shot! Nicely done as always! Xoxoxo
Thank you TS, shivers is a very nice compliment, I appreciate it very much! xoxo
Hahaha if I ever hit the jackpot I’d like a male giraffe too!
Great pictures!
What a cool set – that giraffe – amazing opportunity there. Great shots!
thank you, it’s a nice little zoo, very relaxed.
Love these photos… specially the lion.. they look content and happy, also well fed… the water monitor in the last photo was a surprise never known them to become house trained… lovely set.. but can’t understand why you didn’t give the lion a vegetable as well.?? You could have got one of the boy scouts to volunteer to do it.. and you could have taken some action shots.. boy running at full speed and the lion asking for more carrots…
Thank you! Damn, another Kodak moment missed, you are absolutely right bulldog. Also, didn’t know that was a water monitor
I LOVE your pictures, art. Love the giraffe with his head int the window! That last one?
Thank you Michelle, I have met a lot of cute giraffes lately. According to bulldog, a water monitor is the last guy. I know reptiles are not a favorite of most but I find them intriguing. xoxo
YOu took some really wonderful shots Christina. The posture of those big cats seem all too familiar;) I LOVE the little hand of the lizard and his lizardy tongue. Looks like the animais have plenty of room to roam. Thanks! I really enjoyed the tour!
I am so glad elena, cats do seem the same no matter the size, thank you and thanks for appreciating the reptile, I think he’s very cool.
Interesting set, Chrtistina. A truly grand day out and… that third lion shot is a pearl of an image!
thank you alessandro!
Looks like a zoo that really takes care of its animals. Nice to see. And nice to see you excellent pictures too. There are so many favourites, like the giraffe camouflaged buss, the black and white lion picture, the two of the zebras, just to mention a few. You have such a great vision, Christina.
thank you Otto! It is a nice little zoo and as they take you around they call the animals by name and give them treats when they come to the bus- so yes, I do think the animals are pretty happy although I think the male giraffes would like some females around. That said, they also separate the males from the females because they fight so much, go figure!!!
